Summer Opera Creation Camp
Monday, July 20, to Friday, July 24, 2020
9 am to 4 pm daily
Pacific Opera and Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People invite young people aged 9 to 13 to create and perform their very own opera. Join us as we tell stories through music, with guidance from an opera teaching artist, a composer, and an art teacher.
Beginning with the outline of a story, students will learn how to decide what should be a solo or a duet, and how to create the scenes to tell the story. Together they will write the words and music with guidance from teaching artist Erin Cunes and composer Christine Donkin. The students will then work with artist Nathan Davis to design, build, and paint the set and to create costume pieces.
At the end of the week, the students’ performance will be videotaped for sharing with their families.
Fee: $249.95 per child (includes Camp Fee of $225, $20 non-refundable registration fee, and $4.95 processing fee)
Enrollment is limited.
Pacific Opera thanks Vancouver Opera’s Opera Camp for their support in the creation of this program.
