Play Along to Win
Put your opera knowledge to the test with our opera medley quiz! In the second half of their recital, Aviva and Claire sing a mash-up of famous opera duets, giving a taste of thirteen different operas. Can you name all of the operas that the songs are from?
We have included a trivia card for you to fill out as the medley goes on, but be quick, the duets go by fast! Send us a photo of your completed trivia card for a chance to win a Pacific Opera Swag Bag. Download the trivia card here!
We’ll start you off with a hint… not all of the duets are originally sung by two sopranos!
“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.” – Khalil Gibran
Canadian-Italian soprano Aviva Fortunata, named twice as one of CBC’s Top 30 Canadian Classical Artists Under 30, is earning international attention with her “velvety timbre”, “gleaming tone”, and voice “of diva soprano quality and strength.” To great acclaim, she stepped in last-minute to replace an ailing colleague in the title role of Norma at The Dallas Opera, securing the bel canto heroine as one of Ms. Fortunata’s signature roles.
Named one of CBC’s Top Young Canadian Classical Musicians, soprano Claire de Sévigné was recently nominated for a Classical Album of the Year JUNO award for her Naxos album of Vivaldi Cantatas with Kevin Mallon and the Aradia Ensemble. Recent successes have come with the Canadian Opera Company, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Opernhaus Zürich and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, in which she was hailed for her “sparkling top notes and vocal brilliance, lightness and finesse”.
