Bernard Beck
Bernard Beck is a co-founder and current executive VP of AscendantFX Capital, a non-bank financial institution and FinTech company specializing in foreign exchange hedging solutions and international payments. With its head office in Toronto (satellite HQ Victoria) the company’s operations are in the USA, UK and Canada. He was previously CCO at Custom House (Western Union Business Solutions), a foreign exchange and international payments company operating in seven countries and before that, VP, Director Forensic Investigations for Deloitte Canada. Mr. Beck is a retired member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His last post was Commander of Federal Crimes, Commercial Crime Section, and he worked several years in joint forces operations targeting organized crime in Canada, the USA, UK, and South America.
Mr. Beck is a past president of the Union Club of B.C. and helped establish its community outreach and scholarship program at the University of Victoria. As a member of the board, he co-chaired Pacific Opera Victoria’s recent $2.8-million anniversary campaign. A long-time volunteer, he is a member of the Sovereign Order of St. John’s and has worked with children with mental and physical disabilities, school liaison programs, bicycle rodeos, tele-miracles, youth mentorship, Army Cadets, and as a director of Vancouver Crime Stoppers and much more.
He holds an MBA in Executive Management from Royal Roads University and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Alberta.
