Cécile Muhire

Soprano

Cécile Muhire made her Pacific Opera Victoria debut as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni (2022), and then subsequently returned last season for Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (Despina). Formal vocal apprentice of Opéra de Montréal’s highly esteemed program of l’Atelier
Lyrique, she was awarded the prestigious bursary from the Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation twice. Since her debut with the Opéra de Montréal in Porgy and Bess (The Strawberry Woman), Cécile is renowned for her buttery tone, her vocal agility and her strong charismatic stage presence.

Graduate of the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, as well as newly graduate of Université de Montréal, Cécile was awarded the highest scholarship Young Canadian Scholarship Hopeful from the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques, offering auditions and appearances in training programs in opera houses across Europe. She has been invited by numerous ensembles as a soloist, as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Cirque du Soleil (Festa 2023). Previous roles include Adina (Elisir d’amore) and Leticia (The Old Maid and the Thief).
The young soprano is also very active in young audiences concerts. She is currently performing the role of Gretel (Opera Candy : the gourmet adventure of Hansel and Gretel), a concert of her creation, and was also invited by the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra in Play me a Poem (2022).
