Chantal Thomas
Set Designer
French set designer Chantal Thomas studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. She has worked regularly with Laurent Pelly on more than sixty productions for theatre and opera, including Le Roi Carotte, Viva la Mamma, Barbe Bleue-Offenbach (Opéra de Lyon), I Puritani, Giulio Cesare, L’Elisir d’Amore, Ariadne auf Naxos, Platée (Opéra de Paris), La Fille du régiment, Manon, Robert le diable (Royal Opera House and Met Opera), La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein and La Belle Hélène (Théâtre du Châtelet), Don Pasquale (Santa Fe Opera, La Monnaie Bruxelles, Teatro Reale Madrid), L’Étoile and The love for three oranges, (National Opera Amsterdam), Pelléas et Mélisande (Theater and der Wien), La Traviata and Candide (Santa Fe Opera).
Their last creations include Le Nozze de Figaro (Santa Fe and Matsumoto Japan), Cosi fan Tutte, La Périchole (Theatre des Champs-Élysées).
Many of the productions she has worked have been performed by leading opera companies, including Opera de Paris, the Liceu Barcelona, Metropolitan Opera New York, La Scala Milan and Vienna State Opera.
Chantal Thomas has also worked with French directors and choreographers including Fréderic Bélier-Garcia, Michel Rostain, Laura Scozzi, and Richard Brunel.
Her next projects are Il Turco in Italia Madrid and Fleidermaus Opéra de Lille.
