Join Pacific Opera Victoria for an unforgettable evening of music and remembrance as we pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust through song.
The Shoah Songbook is an evening of powerful pieces in an intimate recital setting. Beautiful melodies and poignant poetry led you on a journey of exploration through longing, regret, and hope while offering a glimpse into the life of Jewish women and mothers detained in the ghettos of the Holocaust
Hosted at the Baumann Centre (925 Balmoral Road, Victoria, BC), this free recital will take place in person on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 7PM (Pacific Daylight Time).
Don’t miss this opportunity to honor those who suffered and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit through music.
As Jewish artists, the discovery of this music has allowed us to reclaim our history with a new perspective, while ensuring that voices once silenced are heard.
– Soprano Jaclyn Grossman
Featuring Pianist – Perri Lo
Likht (ליכט, “light”) Ensemble is a piano-vocal duo comprised of soprano Jaclyn Grossman and pianist/composer Nate Ben-Horin. Their mission is to uncover and share music by Jewish composers from the Holocaust, and by doing so, reexamine their own place in the classical tradition.
