Join us for Watch Party Night, the premiere screening of four works by Pacific Opera Victoria’s Civic Engagement Artist Residency as we celebrate these emerging Canadian talents and their engaging artistry and storytelling.
Through the medium of film, song, and narration, each artist takes the audience on a personal journey, connecting viewers to stories about heritage, identity, and self.
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the artists, see the videos first before their summer digital release, hear the artists explain their creative process and provide behind-the-scenes insights into the creation of these works, and celebrate the launch of a month of free programming.
Hosted at the Baumann Centre (925 Balmoral Road, Victoria, BC), this free event will take place in person on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 7PM (Pacific Daylight Time).
Small reception to follow.
Limited capacity – please RSVP. General Seating. The Baumann Centre is an accessibly venue equipped with an entrance ramp and lift. Click here to learn more about attending events at the Baumann Centre.
More About the Civic Engagement Artist Residency:
Through artist-led learning, fostering creativity, and cultivating community, our artists bring music to life in the third year of the Civic Engagement Artist Residency.
The Cohort for 2022|23, includes soprano Natalya Gennadi, soprano Jaclyn Grossman, baritone Luka Kawabata, and tenor Pierre Luc Houde. These singers have been mentored by artists accomplished in a variety of performing arts disciplines through a process of creation, storytelling with voice, and authentic personal connection to song.
The year culminates in a series of four video recitals as well as an in-person event focused on the connection between art and place.
