Join Pacific Opera Victoria at Victoria Italian Day!
Presented by the Victoria Italian Assistance Centre at the Da Vinci Centre, Victoria Italian Day celebrates Italian Heritage Month with an afternoon of live entertainment, cultural demonstrations, food, vendors, classic Italian vehicles, games, and more. Pacific Opera Victoria singers will be part of the festivities, sharing music alongside a full day of community celebrations. From pasta-making and Venetian mask demonstrations to bocce, foosball, and family-friendly activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Repertoire
Enjoy a selection of beloved Italian opera favourites and classic song, featuring music by Verdi, Puccini, Giordano, and Ernesto de Curtis. Filled with soaring melodies, unforgettable characters, and heartfelt emotion, this program offers a wonderful introduction to the rich traditions of Italian music.
Artists
Jaeman Yoon, baritone, studied at Mannes School of Music under Arthur Levy and Joshua Greene, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Voice from Chugye University for the Arts. He has received recognition in competitions including Gerda Lissner, Giulio Gari Foundation, Opera Index, and Premiere. A participant of the 2018 Merola Opera Program, Yoon is known for his affinity with the Verdi baritone repertoire, with performances including Rigoletto, Macbeth, Germont, and Rodrigo.
Laura Widgett is a Canadian soprano known for her luminous voice, captivating stage presence, and deeply expressive performances. Having graced stages across North America and Europe, she brings warmth, authenticity, and dramatic artistry to every role and concert appearance. Pacific Opera Victoria audiences recently saw her in Tosca, where she was part of the acclaimed chorus of Puccini’s beloved masterpiece. Laura is celebrated for creating meaningful connections with audiences through performances that are both powerful and heartfelt.
