A relaxing and worry-free way to attend the Sunday Matinée!

Victoria Opera Bus

Residents of mid Vancouver Island, the Saanich Peninsula, and Langford can ride in comfort and arrive in style by taking the Opera Bus to the Sunday matinée! Opera Bus also picks up passengers arriving at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal from Tsawwassen and Salt Spring Island.

Leave the driving to the professionals and relax with other opera lovers. During the trip, you will be provided a link to Curator of Public Engagement Robert Holliston’s pre-performance lecture and Inside Opera, as well as keynotes and a house program! After the performance, the Opera Bus will be waiting at the theatre door to whisk you back home.

The Opera Bus arrives at the Royal Theatre in time for the Sunday matinée. Your trip must be booked no later than the Wednesday before the matinee.

Return tickets are $25 per person per opera plus the cost of your performance ticket. Reserve your ticket on the Opera Bus by calling 250.382.1641 no later than the Wednesday prior to the Sunday matinée.

Pick-up locations and departure times - Vancouver Island

 

    • Swartz Bay: 12:20 pm. Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal.
      Bus will wait for passengers of the 11 am ferry from Tsawwassen (ETA 12:20 pm) and the 11:50 am ferry from Salt Spring Island (ETA 12:25 pm). Guests will be met by the Opera Bus host inside the walk-off area at the top of the escalator in the arrivals terminal.
    • Sidney: 1:00 pm. Mary Winspear Centre, 2243 Beacon Avenue
    • Saanichton: 1:20 pm. St. Mary’s Church, 1973 Cultra Avenue.

 

  • Courtenay: 9:00 am. Canadian Tire, 2801 Cliffe Avenue.
  • Parksville: 10:15 am. Parksville Jensen Centre, 132 Jensen Ave E
  • Nanaimo: 11:30 am. Galaxy Cinemas, West side of North Town Centre, 4750 Rutherford Road.
    An additional request stop is available for Gabriola Ferry foot passengers, 11:45 am, Port Theatre, 125 Front Street. By request only.
  • Ladysmith: 12:15 pm. 49th Parallel Grocery, 1020 1st Avenue.
  • Duncan: 12:45 pm. Island Savings at 14-250 Trunk Road.
  • Mill Bay: 13:10 pm. Island Savings Credit Union Parking Lot, Mill Bay Centre, 2720 Mill Bay Road.

Pick up available by request – Langford: 1:25, Depart for YMCA-YWCA Westhills, 1319 Westhills Dr, Langford (By the water slides)

Vancouver Opera Bus

Travel with us to Vancouver Opera’s Sunday matinées!

Return tickets are $150 per person, plus the cost of your performance ticket and meals.

Reserve your ticket on the Opera Bus to Vancouver by calling 250.382.1641 no later than the Wednesday before each respective showing.

Attendees are responsible for their own dining expenses and arranging their Vancouver Opera tickets.

  • 07:30 Opera Bus departs from Baumann Centre, 925 Balmoral Rd.
  • 08:15 Opera Bus departs from Mary Winspear Centre, 2243 Beacon Ave.
  • 09:00 BC Ferry departs to Vancouver
  • 10:30 Opera Bus boarding on Lower Vehicle Deck
  • 11:00 Opera Bus Arrives at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 630 Hamilton St.
  • 12:00 Lunch on own (we recommend Browns Social House, 675 Cambie St., for it’s proximity to the theatre)
  • 2:00 Performance of the opera of your choosing (Intermission reception in Salon A)
  • 5:00 Opera Bus departs from Queen Elizabeth Theatre
  • 7:00 BC Ferry departs to Victoria (Dinner on own on Ferry)
  • 8:30 Opera Bus boarding on Lower Vehicle Deck
  • 9:00 Drop off at Mary Winspear Centre
  • 9:30 Drop off at Baumann Centre

Opera Bus Travel: $150.00

Vancouver Opera Ticket: $25.00 – $260.00

Please be at your pickup point at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We cannot issue refunds or credits if you miss your bus.  Please also ensure that you make your Opera Bus booking no later than noon on the Wednesday prior to the matinée performance. Your trip must be booked no later than the Wednesday before the matinee.

In the event that patrons do not make it to the opera as a result of the bus not fulfilling its obligations, appropriate credits will be issued.
