Anna Bigland-Pritchard

Soprano

Anna Bigland-Pritchard is a queer soprano, voice teacher, social media manager, and Expressive Arts Therapy student. She grew up in Bristol, England, and rural Saskatchewan. She currently lives on unceded Coast Salish and Lekwungen territory, where she studies with renowned soprano, Nancy Argenta. Anna has a BMusfrom Canadian Mennonite University , and a Post-baccalaureate Diploma in Performance from the University of Manitoba, where she studied with Mel Braun. She is a member of two classical music ensembles, gay4nature and Lake & Ocean Collective.

She was awarded a Canada Council grant in 2022 and as a result will create a visual album with the music of Debussy’s Ariettes Oubliées from a queer and ecological lens. In 2021 she was a member of the winning group at Lucky Penny Opera’s 48 HourOpera project. Recent performance highlights include Eve in Haydn’s The Creation with the Victoria Philharmonic Choir, Jenna from the musical Waitress, and the roles of Zdenka, Despina, Juliet, and Anne Page (scenes).

Along with singing, Anna runs a private online voice studio, a social media management business, and offers workshops on eco-mindfulness. A versatile vocalist, Anna performs classical works, musical theatre, and as a singer-songwriter. When she isn’t creating, Anna can be found learning how to garden, exploring the Island with her partner, or feeding snacks to her chickens.
