Christopher Sibbald

Director of Production and Artistic Administration

As Director of Production & Artistic Administration, Christopher oversees artistic and production operations for Pacific Opera Victoria, working closely with artistic, production, and administrative staff to support the planning, development, and execution of the company’s productions and programming. In this role, he leads the coordination of production and artistic activities, ensuring projects are delivered with artistic excellence and strong fiscal management. Christopher also plays a key role in cultivating and stewarding relationships with opera companies across North America, facilitating collaborations that bring Pacific Opera Victoria’s work to stages across the continent.

Christopher has worked in various capacities within the organization since 2014, developing a deep understanding of the company’s artistic vision, production standards, and its artist-centred and collaborative culture. Prior to joining Pacific Opera Victoria full time, he enjoyed a career as a freelance stage manager, working in theatres across Canada including the Belfry Theatre, the Stratford Festival, and the Charlottetown Festival. His experience in rehearsal halls and theatres nationwide has inspired his collaborative approach to leadership and he is excited to bring these perspectives to this role.

A graduate of the University of Victoria’s Department of Theatre and MacEwan University’s Arts and Cultural Management Program, Christopher brings strong practical knowledge of the production process to his role. He is committed to supporting artists and creative teams in realizing exciting work while advancing Pacific Opera Victoria’s artistic vision and community engagement. In his downtime, Christopher enjoys walking and hiking the paths and trails around Greater Victoria with his wife, Angela, and spending quiet weekend mornings at home with their cat Fitz. Born and raised in Calgary on Treaty 7 territory, he is honoured to now call the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən-speaking Peoples – the Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation – home, and is grateful to live and work on these lands.
