Elizabeth Denham CBE, is a specialist in the management of privacy and information policy issues. Elizabeth was a Pacific Opera Victoria Board Director for three years from 2013-2016 and has just returned to Victoria after spending 5 years in London UK, as Information Commissioner, where she was responsible for transforming the Information Commissioner’s Office into one of the most influential privacy regulators in the world. Her achievements there include securing new regulatory powers to meet the challenges of delivering a series of ground- breaking investigations that have made data protection a mainstream issue around the world.

Elizabeth served for six-years from 2010-2016 as Commissioner in the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia and as Registrar in the Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists.

A graduate of the University of British Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science and a Masters in Archival and Information Studies, Elizabeth is the recipient of a variety of awards and distinguished honours including being appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2019, being awarded the University of British Columbia’s Distinguished Alumni award in 2011 and receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for public service to British Columbians in 2013.
