Ereca Hassell
Chief Operating Officer
Ereca Hassell is the Chief Operating Officer at Pacific Opera Victoria and has been with the organization for fifteen years, including a decade as a member of its senior leadership team. Ereca has overseen major capital and facility initiatives, including the transformation of the Baumann Centre into a multi-purpose community hub for artistic creation, rehearsal, and public engagement. She strengthened the company’s production and partnership infrastructure by stewarding more than seventeen national and international co-production collaborations, expanding touring and production rental activity, and advancing environmentally responsible practices through shared scenic and modular design models. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led Pacific Opera’s transition to digital creation and distribution, sustaining artistic activity and audience connection through films, livestreams, and online programming. She’s responsible for cultivating long-term partnerships with artists and cultural institutions locally and across Canada.
Her leadership is grounded in an early career as an award-winning lighting designer for theatre, dance, and opera. This artistic foundation informs her collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and her deep respect for artists and the creative process. She has participated in national leadership initiatives and serves on the Board of the Association for Opera in Canada. Ereca earned a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University and is committed to advancing resilient, innovative, and community-centered models for the performing arts.
