Joanna Diindiisikwe Simmons (Burt) makes her debut with Pacific Opera in the role of the Native Girl in the 2019 touring production of Missing by Marie Clements and Brian Current.

Of Saugeen Ojibway descent, Joanna is fluent in English, Cree, and Ojibwe. She completed the Performance Diploma Program and the Artist Diploma Program at the Glenn Gould School of Music of the Royal Conservatory. She performed at the 2015 Pan Am Games Opening Ceremonies with Cirque du Soleil and the 2015 ParaPan-Am Games Opening Ceremonies with production company B5C.

In 2017 Joanna debuted with the Canadian Opera Company in the role of Sara Riel in Louis Riel. She performed the roles of Grandmother Moon and Muskrat and was Performing Arts Liaison for the Harmony Collaboration in their production of FIRST, which tells the creation story of the Mississaugas.
