Kaden Forsberg made his solo debut with Pacific Opera Victoria as Charlie in the company’s 2015 school tour production of Mary’s Wedding. Kaden has also performed in the chorus for South Pacific in Concert and Camelot in Concert. He was Snout the tinker in Pacific Opera’s 2016 production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and First Priest / Armed Guard in the 2017 production of The Magic Flute. He returned in November 2017 for the world première production of Missing by Marie Clements and Brian Current and will reprise his role in 2019 when the opera is remounted for performances in Victoria, Regina, and Prince George.
A former student of Benjamin Butterfield, Kaden has been featured locally as a soloist with the Victoria Baroque Players and Civic Orchestra and has performed in Alberta in concert and recital. He has performed Rinuccio in the Amalfi Coast Music Festival’s production of Gianni Schicchi as well as Medoro in the Mozarteum’s production of Orlando Paladino. In 2017 Kaden completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Victoria, studying classical voice. However, he began his singing career in Musical Theatre, taking on various lead roles in shows such as Les Misérables, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
While studying for his Bachelor of Music degree, he had the opportunity to perform as a member of the Edmonton Opera chorus for a number of seasons. He has lately been seen in operetta repertoire and was privileged to perform Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore with the Victoria Gilbert and Sullivan Society, the title role in Candide with Opera Nuova (2014), and Sam Polk in Susannah at the 2015 Halifax Summer Opera Festival.
He has also branched into concert repertoire as a soloist with the Victoria Baroque Players, the Civic Orchestra of Victoria, the Victoria Choral Society, and the Victoria Philharmonic Choir.
Kaden was named Most Promising Senior Male Vocalist and Rose Bowl Winner at the 2017 Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival. His 2017/18 season also includes the Evangelist in the Okanagan Festival Singers production of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and the role of Wilhelm Grimm in Opera NUOVA’s touring production of The Brothers Grimm.
