Inspired by her jazz and country roots, emerging soprano Kyla Fradette frequently performs with Pacific Opera Victoria and Victoria Baroque as she continues her studies under Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria. She has received formal training in the styles of popular, choral, a cappella, musical theatre, and jazz performance. As a self-taught guitarist and songwriter, she seeks to explore various genres through both composition and performance.
A favoured performer regarded for her “polished, genuine, and expressive tone”, Kyla has most recently co-performed the role of Galatea in the University of Victoria Voice Ensemble’s spring production of Acis and Galatea and was featured as both a Midinette and a Lay Sister in Pacific Opera’s fall production of Puccini’s Il Trittico. Kyla will be performing in Pacific Opera’s Carmen chorus when the production is rescheduled and will be returning as a soprano soloist with Victoria Baroque for their concert Evening Hymn.
