Kyla Fradette
Soprano
Inspired by her jazz and country roots, emerging soprano Kyla Fradette frequently performs with Pacific Opera Victoria and Victoria Baroque as she continues her studies under Benjamin Butterfield at the University of Victoria. She has received formal training in the styles of classical, musical theatre, a cappella, and jazz performance, and as self-taught guitarist and songwriter, seeks to explore various genres through both composition and performance.
A favoured performer regarded for her “genuine and expressive tone”, Kyla is a featured soloist in Pacific Opera Victoria’s 2020/21 Apprentice Civic Engagement Quartet, Coloratura, and Pop-Up Opera series. She has most recently performed in Pacific Opera’s film adaptation of Elizabeth Raum’s The Garden of Alice chorus, along with Victoria Baroque’s Give Peace in Our Time online concert. Kyla enjoyed performing as Lay Sister 1 and a Midinette in Pacific Opera’s 2019 production of Puccini’s Il trittico and looks forward to rejoining the Carmen chorus when theatres reopen.
