Marielle Ferris

Marielle Ferris is a talented 12-year-old musician whose passion for music is deeply rooted in her family. Her father, Mark Ferris, is a distinguished violinist, composer, and former Concertmaster of Vancouver Opera, while her mother holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition. Growing up in this rich musical environment, Marielle has embraced a diverse range of instruments and vocal training, studying voice, piano, guitar, and saxophone.

Since January 2023, Marielle has been an active member of the Victoria Children’s Choir, advancing to the Concert Choir in September 2023. She made her Pacific Opera Victoria debut in February 2025, performing in the children’s chorus of The Little Prince. Additionally, Marielle has performed with the Victoria Symphony in their production of Messiah, showcasing her growing experience on major stages.

Beyond ensemble singing, Marielle is a passionate songwriter. She has composed five original songs, using piano, guitar, and her voice to express her creativity and musical ideas. Her diverse musical experiences, from classical choral works to contemporary songwriting, reflect her joyful exploration of music.

Marielle’s musical journey is also marked by generosity and community spirit. During the Covid pandemic, she busked alongside her father in downtown Victoria, raising $700 for the ABBA Girls Orphanage in Lahore, Pakistan. With her vibrant talent and dedication, Marielle looks forward to continuing her growth as a young artist and sharing her music with audiences everywhere.
