Michael Shamata returns to Pacific Opera, having previously directed La Boheme in 2011.  That same year, he directed the world premiere of Andrew MacDonald and Stephen Massicote’s Mary’s Wedding, commissioned by POV.  During the pandemic, he staged and filmed Jake Heggie’s For a Look or a Touch.  An award-winning director, he is currently in his 19^th and final season as Artistic Director of the Belfry Theatre.
