Sylvain Genois

Costume Designer

Sylvain Genois signs his very first opera costume design with Carmen and is thrilled to collaborate with Pacific Opera for his debut. This is also his first collaboration with Francois Racine. Born in Quebec City, based in Montreal, Genois has worked in the live performances industry since 2010. He started his career working with many different theatre companies drawing costumes and set designs. In the past few years Sylvain has worked with many well-known directors, such as René-Richard Cyr, Denise Filliatrault, and Serge Denoncourt. He also recently worked on Cher Tchekhov, presented at Théâtre du Nouveau Monde and at National Arts Centre in Ottawa. This production was the latest play written by the legendary author Michel Tremblay.

Most recently he worked on big productions of The Phantom of the Opera and Rock of Ages, both musicals presented in Montreal and Quebec City. Genois also has a strong experience designing costumes for tv shows and movies. With this production of Carmen, Sylvain discovered the joys and pleasures of designing a classic and he hopes that his work will pleased the opera lovers.
