The evening features a beautiful program of songs inspired by nature, animals, and our connection to the natural world, performed by emerging artists from the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus: Nadia Lurie, Tim Carter, and Louis Dillon, accompanied by acclaimed pianist Robert Holliston. Alongside the music is an educational and engaging presentation by Dr. Lisa Yon, Founding Director of Elephant Welfare International and an internationally recognized leader in elephant welfare.
Drawing on more than 30 years of experience as a veterinarian, researcher, and educator, Dr. Yon will explore how science, technology, and compassion are transforming the care of elephants around the world. Learn how EWI’s ground breaking Elephant Welfare App is helping caregivers better understand each elephant’s unique needs through behavioural observation, contributing to a growing global database that is advancing evidence-based welfare practices. She will also discuss how this research is informing policy and helping improve the lives of captive elephants internationally. With both African and Asian elephants classified as endangered, this work has never been more urgent.
Whether you are passionate about music, wildlife conservation, or simply enjoy learning something new, this special event offers an inspiring opportunity to experience exceptional young artists while discovering how science is helping shape a better future for elephants.
Admission is by suggested donation, with 100% of proceeds supporting Elephant Welfare International, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of elephants through science, education, and global collaboration.
