Our Pop Up Opera singers take the ground and the stage, popping up to delight the crowds with spontaneous songs! These are not your ordinary concerts or recitals. Pop Up Opera breaks all the rules and takes the art of opera to the crowd, delighting unsuspecting passersby with breathtaking musical moments in public spaces, lifting the barrier between music and audience. This spontaneity is meant to introduce different audiences to opera, free of cost, lasting only 6 to 8 minutes.

It’s time for Story Time’s A Drag! Persi Flage will walk with you on a story telling journey towards all things colourful, weird, and wonderful from the stage! Celebrating diversity and loving ourselves exactly as we are, we’ll read books, play games, and have a DRAG of a time!
Join Jennifer Turner and Robert Holliston as they perform an excerpt from one of Pacific Opera Victoria’s upcoming productions – The Little Prince! Listen to heartfelt, sparkling melodies about adventure and friendship from the opera based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved worldwide literary classic.
Teaching Artist Geoff Malcolm hosts a sing along activity with Principal Conductor Giuseppe Pietraroia, and the Pop Up Opera Singers, accompanied live by Robert Holliston! Children will be guided on an activity that teaches them the importance of conductors – by allowing them to take the (metaphorical) baton!
Toot a trumpet! Visit a violin! Cuddle a cello! Arrive early to enjoy the Instrument Petting Zoo starting at 4 pm. The Instrument Petting Zoo gives children of all ages the opportunity to try a musical instrument. It’s a relaxing and fun way to spark a child’s interest in music and gives them a firsthand try at many different instruments. Our capable student volunteers will guide your child to the right way to hold, blow, or bow each instrument.
There will also be a touch table, featuring props and other behind the scenes information on Pacific Opera Victoria productions! Come and explore each item!
